Thank you. Thank you for the gift of vacation. Thank you for the gift of sabbath and time away to breathe and renew. I am grateful for your support to do the things that will make me a better pastor, wife, and mother. I'll be gone from August 4 - 15 to go to Ring Lake Ranch with Sarah Allan ( "Renewal in Sacred Wilderness.") While I am gone, the Rev. Cam Harkness is graciously willing to provide pastoral care for anything that comes up and requires attention before I return. If you need pastoral care while I am gone, please don't hesitate to call Debbie Reed in the church office and she will get in touch with Cam.

In the coming weeks, we have a couple of exciting things happening of which I want you to be aware. On August 27, we will begin our new Sunday morning schedule
9:45 - 10:00 Coffee and donuts in the activity room
10:00 - 10:45 Sunday School for ALL ages
11:00 - 12:00 Sunday morning worship
It's an exciting time and you'll hear more about the classes and teachers in the coming weeks- mark your calendars and stay tuned!

And, in September, Stone Chippings will transition from being a weekly to a monthly newsletter. It will be emailed to our entire list and paper copies will be mailed to anyone who requests it. Want a paper copy of the newsletter? Please call or email and we will add you to the list.

The bulletin will still be available online before Sunday morning (it will be posted by Friday morning to ) and we will mail paper copies of the bulletin on Thursday to anyone who would like one. Want a paper copy of the bulletin? Please call or email and we will add you to the list.

This also changes some of our deadlines. The deadline to submit content for the Stone Chippings will be on the 20th of each month. The bulletin deadline will be Tuesday morning at 10:00. I hope that you will write articles and share announcements we can include!

Finally, I also hope you have September 6 on your calendars. That's the first Committee Night. Even if you don't currently serve on a committee I hope you will attend the congregational supper at 6:00. It will be a good evening-

Peace to you-
Rev. Anna

Greetings from the Sunday School class led by Chuck Lewis Thought for the week: As a company of strangers and pilgrims passing thought the wilderness of this world, Christians must not settle down in it by adopting the standards of those around them.
Last week's Old Testament Quiz: What prophet married a prostitute?
Answer: Hosea's marriage to Gomer, a prostitute, was similar to God's dealings with Israel. The first three chapters of Hosea contain the rest of a very interesting story.
This week's Old Testament Quiz: What former slave became ruler of Egypt?
Last week our Sunday School lesson walked us through ways to speak out against injustice while studying Amos's call from God.
This week begins a study of how God called people to serve in the Book of Acts and how that affects us. All the background scriptures come from Acts. Come learn more about the Bible and how it affects you this Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room.

Our Fellowship Time after morning worship is in need of people to volunteer to host. Nobody is on our list for August or September. It is VERY easy to sign up! Call the church office, call or text Ben Lewis at 304-646-7410, email Ben
or let a member of the Fellowship Committee know.
Thank you from your Fellowship Committee.

New Sunday School Options
After much deliberation and debate, the Christian Education Committee is pleased to offer a new format for Sunday School classes this fall. All classes will meet from 10:00-10:45. As a result of options offered before worship, only children ages 3-2nd grade will attend the enrichment class that leaves immediately after the Time With Young Church.
There are classes for everyone!
Adult classes will be held in the Session Room, Hayes Room and the upstairs blue Sunday School room. We invite you to roam around and decide which class is the best fit for you!
Children ages 3 years through 1st grade will meet in the classroom beside the stairwell on the top floor.
Elementary Students grades 2-5 will meet in the yellow Sunday School Room upstairs.
Middle & High School Students will meet in the Parlor located in the basement.
We are also working on keeping up with Presbyterian Safe Sanctuary policies which means that we will need more adults who are willing to be substitute teachers and nursery attendants. Please contact Amy Kesterson at the church office to find out how you can serve your congregation!

Prayer of the Day (unison)
Almighty God, fount of all wisdom, crown of all knowledge, give us eyes to see and minds to understand your marvelous works, that we may know you through your handiwork and use your creation to your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

God of compassion, in Jesus Christ you reveal your glory, but we turn away, distracted by our own plans. We confess that we speak when we should listen, and act when we should wait. Forgive our misguided enthusiasms.

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer of the People and the Lord’s Prayer
…..Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn #525 “Here I Am, Lord”

Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you
