One of our favorite books to read Sarah Allan when she was much younger was, “Red Sings from Treetops: a Year in Colors,” by Joyce Sidman. We loved the way the words flowed and the delightful illustrations that brought those words to life. As the title indicates, in the poem you journey through an entire year, and see what each season has to offer in the way of color and insight.
As Ecclesiastes says, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

This is part of the entry for spring:

In SPRING, Red sings from treetops:  cheer-cheer-cheer, each note dropping like a cherry into my ear.

Green is new in spring.  Shy.  Green peeks from buds, trembles in the breeze.  Green floats through rain-dark trees, and glows, mossy-soft, at my feet.

Yellow slips goldfinches their spring jackets.  Yellow shouts with light!  In spring, yellow and purple hold hands.  They beam at each other with bright velvet faces.  First flowers, first friends.

One of the things I love about life in the church is the changing of the church seasons, each with their own tone, color, and emphasis. We are still in the triumphant joy of Easter, made particularly vibrant after the solemn contemplation (and alleluia-free) season of Lent. Following Pentecost, we will enter the season of ordinary time- a season marked my green and growth- a deepening of our roots in the soil of God’s grace.

As we travel these seasons I am so grateful to count you as traveling companions- ready to see and learn from the new experiences that are before us, growing in faith and in love so that we can, in all things, Give God the Glory.

Peace.
Rev. Anna

Greetings from the Sunday School Class led by Chuck Lewis. Thought for the week: Right doctrine without a Godly life is of no value, while a Godly life without right doctrine is not possible.
Last week's New Testament Quiz: When did Jesus' disciples receive this power from on high?
Answer: The disciples were all together on the day of Pentecost (50 days after the Passover) and suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of violent wind and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
This week's New Testament Quiz: A few moments after receiving the Holy Spirit, Peter addressed the gathered crowd. How many people were added to the Christians that day?
Last Sunday at the completion of our lesson about the Good Shepherd these two questions for reflection and discussion were answered. In what ways do the teachings of Jesus about the Good Shepherd refer to His unique role? What leadership principles from Jesus can we apply to the role of church leaders today? After discussion, we began our lesson on the first Chapter of Jonah. This week we begin by completing the first Chapter of Jonah and, depending upon discussion, completing the second chapter. Background scriptures come from Psalms, Job, Isaiah, Luke, Matthew, and Jonah. Come learn with us this Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Conference Room.
